Wet Paint - All That Glitters

  • Zoom Meeting Platform (map)

Join us for a special holiday program from celebrated book artist, Sarah Stengle, and our friends at Wet Paint on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 12:30PM.

Sarah will start off our program by embellishing a single letter with gold or metal leaf in a style based on traditional illumination, utilizing simple techniques and modern materials. Three other methods for using metal leaf in combination with calligraphy or type will be demonstrated:

  • a method for creating raised ornamental dots

  • a method for ornamenting with stencils, and

  • a way of spattering gold size on the paper to create a lustrous background effect with metal leaf.

No prior experience needed as the focus will be on techniques that can be easily utilized later. There will be time set aside for Q&As.

After Sarah’s demonstrations, Virginia McBride, Program Coordinator at Wet Paint, will feature some glittery, shiny and fun materials available online or in-store - just in time for gifts to others or yourself! Have pen and paper ready to make up your holiday gift list.
